Matt started Sterling Properties Group, Inc. in 2007 to provide a broad range of commercial real estate services for his clients
while pursuing retail and mixed-use development opportunities in the Carolinas and Tennessee. He brings a unique background in real estate finance, brokerage, development and leasing to the benefit of his clients and investors alike.
Matt began his career in 1991 with Wachovia Bank of North Carolina as a corporate banker and commercial mortgage lender in Charlotte. For the past 14 + years, Matt has been actively involved in developing and leasing commercial real estate developments in Tennessee, Oregon, and North Carolina with various real estate firms.
Matt’s development experience includes development and leasing of traditional retail power-centers, free-standing drug-stores, and grocery anchored retail centers. Prior to starting Sterling Properties Group, Inc., Matt’s most recent positions were with Langley Properties Company where he served as Vice President—Development; and prior to that, he served as Vice President—Development and Leasing with Cambridge Properties, Inc. in Charlotte.
Matt is a licensed broker in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He is an active member of The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors (CRCBR). Matt is an active member of Myers Park
United Methodist Church and sits on the Board of Directors for the Charlotte
Housing First (a homeless to homes initiative of the Charlotte Center for
Urban Ministry). He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
